Rick and Bubba’s guide to the Almost Nearly Perfect Marriage
By
Rick Burgess and Bill Bussey
Being from the Upper Midwest – Rick and Bubba are not familiar names to me. So I really didn’t have much expectations for the book when I first opened the cover. My previous experience with books on marriage left quite a bit to be desired. It always seemed that they were written more for the women then for the men. Occasionally I’d find a nugget of info that would be helpful to me, but in all reality they were pretty much all the same book it seemed.
I opened up this book with those expectations and quickly realized that this was not going to be the same kind of book. I laughed all the way through this book as I read it! It’s not so much that Rick and Bubba were comedic, but rather I could see myself doing so many of the very same things! It was absolutely a delight to read something written by a couple of guys that I could relate to!
Here’s the kicker about the book. As they talked about their wives and their marriages, it was clear throughout the book that the glue that held them all together was their faith in Christ. As they talked about some of the struggles that they have had, despite the pain and frustration they always kept the focus of Christ in the picture.
I recommend this book to both single and married men. It’s a great read, and it’s written in such a way that you can read a couple of chapters at a time. I sat down and read it in about 2 hours – so it’s a fast and easy read. Mostly I recommend it though because it allows the readers to relate to two regular guys from Alabama and learn things that will help have an almost nearly perfect marriage.
You can pick up your copy of the book at Amazon.

I’m learning to be compassionate towards those less fortunate than me, I’m practicing mercy in everyday living, I’m seeking wisdom beyond my years, and I’m desiring a deep and intimate knowledge of God, my King.
