What does your grocery store look like on Sunday morning?

My wife and I attend the Saturday night services that are offered at our church. This gives us time on Sunday morning to do a wide variety of things that we want to do. My favorite thing to do on Sunday mornings is to go grocery shopping. Over the course of the past few months, I’ve discovered what our grocery store looks like on Sunday mornings. When I go grocery shopping on Sunday morning, I see regular people who’ve worked all week and are trying to get the things that they need before heading into another week of work. I see people who are looking for opportunities to relax and are picking up their beverages of choice that help them do just that. The funniest and most disturbing sights I see are the people who are obviously dressed for church who rush through the grocery store picking up the obligatory donuts, juice and milk all the while looking distastefully at those of us who are enjoying the day in t-shirts, shorts and flip-flops.

When I go to the grocery store, I see people who are trying to relax after a hard week’s work and getting ready for another hard week ahead. I see people at ease with each other and with their surroundings and not trying to put on a false or insincere persona. I see this same atmosphere at my local church, for which I’m incredibly grateful. People come to our services not because they are expected to or have to, but rather because they want to. It’s an exciting place to be and people want to be involved with something that allows them to hear the Word of God preached and where they have opportunities to serve others.

All of this begs me to ask this question, What does your grocery store look like on Sunday morning?  Does it look like your church?
