Tough Questions

If you know that God has placed something in your heart to do – but you don’t do it – is it a sin? What if no one else believes that you can do it? What if even you doubt if you can do it? What if everyone you know says it’s absolutely crazy? What if it costs you your security and your future plans? What if it’s extremely uncomfortable? What if it brings you absolute joy as you commune with God? What do you do?

I’d have to say that if you truly know that it’s something God has placed in your heart to do, then it can be a sin not to do it. If it’s something he’s placed on your heart and told you to do, then it’s definitely a sin, but if it’s more of a desire, not a command, I don’t know if it’s a sin so much as it is missing out on something wonderful He has for you. As for it costing you your security and future plans…I could tell you many stories, both in my life and in the lives of many people I know, where what seemed like a huge sacrifice of dreams or goals or lifestyle or whatever, ended up paling in comparison to what God had planned to take it’s place. His plans are ALWAYS better than ours. ALWAYS! That doesn’t make it easier to step out there and let go of what feels secure, but the rewards are worth it!

so…there you have it. My two cents.
